Unjani Clinic

Vision

At Unjani Clinic, we never stop looking for ways to bring the latest in affordable high-quality private healthcare to communities across South Africa. From head to toe, our comprehensive offering combined with our innovative model is designed to improve healthcare quality and access, giving each patient the empathetic care they deserve.

As part of this commitment, we are excited to announce the launch of another brand-new service – vision testing. Patients will be able to book an appointment with a professional optometrist as part of a pilot programme at 3 of our clinics: Cosmo City, Diepsloot and Tembisa.

Regular eye examinations are an important part of looking after your health. If your vision is impaired, getting it corrected can improve your quality of day-to-day life, and regular testing can help detect eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, all of which can lead to loss or impairment of sight. In kids, poor vision can negatively affect their school performance, and in elderly patients, it can increase the risk of falling.

In this pilot programme, patients will be able to book an appointment with a professional optometrist at Cosmo City (Tuesdays), Diepsloot (Wednesdays) and Tembisa (Thursdays). Tests will cost just R350, including a pair of prescription glasses. This means that patients who require vision correction will be able to get a pair of glasses immediately, with no need to wait for them to be made.

To make this happen, Unjani Clinic has strategically partnered with DOT Glasses, a radical solution for prescription eyeglasses. This revolutionary company enables optometrists and healthcare workers to quickly and easy create a pair of prescription glasses that meets the need of the patient, with a modular design that takes just 2 minutes to assemble. Made with high-quality frames and scratch-resistant polycarbonate lenses, adults frames come in black and children’s frames are available in a range of bright and cheerful colours.

We look forward to extending this exciting new offering to our patients, and hope to roll it out to all our clinics should the pilot programme prove to be successful.
